There are several types of truck driver licence classes. These depend on the type of vehicle you wish to drive.
Light Commercial truck drivers licence:
# Class 2 - This licence allows you to drive a single vehicle, up to a maximum of 15,000 kg or a combination vehicle less than 12,000 kg. It also allows you to drive any vehicle covered by class 1.
# Class 3- This licence allows you to drive a combination vehicle of more than 12,000 kg but less than 25,001 kg. It also allows you to drive any vehicle covered by classes 1 and 2.
Heavy Commercial truck drivers licence:
# Class 4- This licence allows you to drive a single vehicle over 15,000 kg and any combination vehicle of more than 15,000 kg, towing a light trailer. It also allows you to drive any vehicle covered by classes 1 and 2, but not class 3
# Class 5- This licence allows you to drive any combination vehicle over 25,000 kg. It also allows you to drive any vehicle covered by classes 1,2,3,4.
ENDORSEMENTS
Fork Lift Drivers Licence:
F endorsement - Allows you to drive a forklift.
Dangerous Goods Truck Drivers Licence:
D endorsement - Allows you to transport dangerous goods.
Passenger Transport Drivers Licence:
P endorsement - Allows you to carry passengers.
Vehicle Recovery Drivers Licence:
V endorsement - Allows you to drive a vehicle recovery vehicle.
